Computer requirements:
64 bit (x64) processor running Windows 10 or higher.
Computers with ARM processors are not supported, even when using x64 emulation. In particular, Integration Designer will not run on Apple Silicon-based Macintosh computers under virtualization.

What happens to Integration Designer 10 (APEX), now that Integration Designer 11 is available?
Integration Designer 11 (ID11) is the next step in the evolution of Integration Designer 10 (ID10), also known as APEX. ID11 is a direct upgrade to ID10/APEX and will fully replace this on your computer. When you launch ID10/APEX, you will be prompted to upgrade to ID11. Once you upgrade, you can convert the ID10/APEX files to ID11 (more details below).
What benefits does Integration Designer 11 bring to dealers?
Integration Designer 11 provides several new features that increase productivity and give you an "express lane" programming option. The new Coral template has the user interface beautifully designed and programmed for you. The new System Manager automatically manages room, sources and their states to simplify programming. Activities are programmed once by room instead of multiple controller buttons. The driver store is now fully integrated into ID11 providing up to date drivers easily accessed. Do I have to upgrade to Integration Designer 11?
All RTI dealers should use ID11 to build new customer projects. New products and drivers will be exclusively written to support ID11. To receive the highest level of support and deploy all current and future RTI products, drivers, and services, upgrading to ID11 is mandatory.
How do I migrate from APEX to Integration Designer 11?
When you launch APEX, it will prompt you to upgrade to ID11. Accept the upgrade and once installation is complete, you are ready to go! PRO TIP: If you do not have a process for backing up your computers regularly, the best practice would be to back-up your computer and customer files before upgrading to give you peace of mind.
How can I service an existing ID10/APEX system in the field?
If you need to service an existing project in the field, you can simply upgrade to Integration Designer 11. However please note that you will need to update firmware on many of the devices for that project. If upgrading the firmware for the processors and controllers is not an option, you can service the project with ID10/APEX. However, ID10/APEX and Integration Designer 11 cannot coexist on the same computer
What was the final ID10/APEX release and where can I find it?
The final ID10/APEX release was 10.13.4 and can be found on the RTI Forum for you to archive or use to service projects where updating the firmware is not feasible.
Do I need to upgrade all of my current customer files to Integration Designer 11?
Upgrading your client projects to ID11 is only necessary when servicing your client or changing a project. However, if you do upgrade a system from ID10/APEX to ID11, please note thatID11 will require firmware updates to the project and devices, so please plan accordingly.
Should I create a backup of my APEX files before converting them to an Integration Designer 11 file?
It is always a good practice to make backups of your client’s project files. However, during conversion, ID11 will create an ID11 file and leave the original APEX version intact.
How do I convert an APEX file to an Integration Designer 11 file?
This process is automatic. Simply start Integration Designer 11 and open your APEX file in confirm your choice to upgrade. There will be a backup created of the original file with the current date and time appended.
Do I need to update my firmware for ID11? What about my RTiPanel apps?
As with many of our other software releases, Integration Designer 11 introduces new firmware for most of our products and newer versions of the iOS and Android RTiPanel apps. These are now available from our website and from the app stores.
I upgraded an existing customer’s APEX file to Integration Designer 11. What do I need to change?
Once you convert your APEX project to ID11, you will notice subtle changes, such as Room Proxy functionality being incorporated into the System Manager component. If you were using Room Proxy variables, you will notice these now being provided by System Manager, but they function in the same way. Aside from that, you should be able to program your converted APEX projects with the same techniques you learned in APEX training. However, new projects should take advantage of Coral and the additional time-saving features.
I recently completed the APEX training. Will this knowledge help using Integration Designer 11?
Absolutely. Dealers with a background in APEX will have knowledge of the many Integration Designer concepts, workflows, and features of the Integration Designer 11 software. Some of these features have evolved, but prior knowledge of APEX is beneficial and will save you time learning ID11 and its new features.
How do I take advantage of the System Manager and some of the other Integration Designer 11 features in a converted APEX file?
ID11 benefits mostly new fields using the Coral template. Converting your APEX project file to ID11 will automatically remap some variables to the System Manager. You will have to reprogram the project and activity macros in the activity event page to take advantage of the system variables and internal tracking system. We will demonstrate this in a training course.
Can I add the Obsidian template in Integration Designer 11?
The Obsidian template included in APEX is available in Integration Designer 11. However, if you want to take advantage of the efficiency, updated look, and features, we recommend using the Coral template in your future installations.
I have a large custom project coming up. Can I customize the interface with a custom look?
RTI will always cater to the power user who wants to customize based on the project's needs. Whether you are doing a commercial or residential project, you continue to have the full power of customization in the ID11 software. Even if you customize the project, you do not give up many of the new features and built-in intelligence of Integration Designer 11.
I have not learned Integration Designer 11 yet. Should I use it in projects?
If you are a new dealer or a dealer using Integration Designer APEX, you should train on some of the new features of the ID11 software before you start programming projects. RTI will have the training you require to be productive in the field and much-improved programming experience.
Can I continue to use my custom templates in ID11?
Yes, if your template was designed for ID10/APEX. In order to receive the full benefit of the System Manager, you may choose to update your template based on the Coral interface.
Will Integration Designer 11 work for my commercial projects?
Yes. We have designed ID11 to continue to support RTI’s commercial and residential integrators.
Is there an upgrade path from Integration Designer 9? Can I convert my ID9 files?
No, ID9 project files are not fully upgradeable to ID11, nor to ID10/APEX. Integration Designer 9 was superseded by Integration Designer 10 (APEX) several years ago, which did not contain the ability to import or upgrade project files from ID9 to ID10. APEX and ID11 do contain a limited ability to open ID9 files to make use of the graphics and page layouts contained within, but all commands and macros will need to be recreated in the new software.
What will happen to Integration Designer 9?
RTI will continue to support Integration Design 9 for existing installations and projects. However, new hardware developed by RTI, and drivers written by RTI will be designed for Integration Designer 11 and may not support ID9.
I currently use Integration Designer 9. How should I get trained on Integration Designer 11?
RTI will be offering progressive courses in Integration Designer 11. Installers using ID9 will already be familiar with many aspects of the software and familiar with RTI products and resources. Please see the training calendar on the RTI dealer website (under "Support," select "Training"). You will be able to access the training calendar and the latest news. Contact your local distributor or director of business development in your area if you require in-person training.
