MXnet 10G Multi-Stream Encoder

Description

The 10G-MSE is a high-performance, multi-stream AV over IP encoder designed to simplify and unify modern video distribution systems. By simultaneously generating uncompressed 4K SDVoE video and compressed H.265 streams from a single device, the 10G-MSE enables true hybrid AV architectures that balance performance, scalability, and efficiency.

At its core, the 10G-MSE is built for environments where uncompromised video quality is critical. Leveraging the MXnet 10G ecosystem, it delivers visually lossless, zero-latency 4K video to primary displays and at the same time, produces a parallel 1080p H.265 stream that can be distributed to MXnet USP endpoints leveraging the power of AVPro Flow.

This dual-stream capability allows AV designs to leverage the right level of performance for each space without duplicating sources, encoders, or infrastructure. The result is a more efficient system design with reduced hardware, lower installation costs, and simplified long-term maintenance.

Multi-Stream Engine - The 10G-MSE is capable of transmitting two streams onto the network simultaneously. The main SDVoE output provides high fidelity 4K distribution to 10G-TCVR decoders and a secondary H.26x stream provides low-bandwidth 1080p interoperability with MXnet USP decoders.

4K/60fps Encoding - Capable of encoding via SDVoE up to 4K/60fps 4:4:4 8-bit YCbCr or RGB source content with support for 10/12-bit deep color formats including HDR10, HLG and Dolby Vision.

(Note: DV/HDR/HLG is not supported on the H.265 stream)

Zero Compression - SDVoE distributes completely uncompressed video signals up to 4K/30fps 4:4:4 8-bit. 4K resolutions above 30fps are very lightly compressed at a 1.3:1 ratio, resulting in a signal almost identical to source content.

Zero Latency - 10G endpoints can distribute AV content over the network with zero latency when in genlock mode. Making it the perfect solution for time sensitive and mission critical applications.

USB & Control  - 10G endpoints are equipped with various control signal I/O. Using the powerful MXnet API, you can route USB & control signals over the network to control peripherals or create KVM matrix systems.

Can the 10G-MSE output a 4K H.265 signal?

No. 4K is only supported on the SDVoE stream. The H.265 AVPro Flow stream is limited to 1080p30. This also means that high dynamic range formats such as HDR10, HLG and Dolby Vision are not supported through H.265.

What is AVPro Flow?

AVPro Flow is a technology based on H.265/H.264 codecs. It allows interoperability between different MXnet ecosystems (in this case 10G and USP) and adopts standards-based capability, allowing an AVPro Flow enabled solution to stream to 3rd-party devices.

Will the 10G-MSE work with all MXnet USP endpoints?

Yes, the H.265 (AVPro Flow) stream from 10G-MSEs are compatible with all USP endpoints. In most cases the USP-ES is the most economical choice, but you are not limited to a specific USP model.

Can the 10G-MSE stream to 3rd-party decoders?

Yes. The H.265 (AVPro Flow) stream can be configured for open-streaming, allowing content to be sent to compatible 3rd-party hardware or software decoders or live streaming platforms.

Will the 10G-MSE work with existing 10G-TCVRs?

Absolutely. The 10G-MSE is an SDVoE encoder just like TCVRs, but also includes a secondary H.265 output. SDVoE signals from MSE can be sent to TCVRs in decoder mode and will also be managed through the CBOX-HA.

Will the 10G-MSE supporting generating preview streams?

Yes! This is another benefit of the multi-stream functionality. All 10G-MSE’s can provide a low-resolution preview stream using MJPEG that can be seen inside of Mentor and used via 3rd-party control systems.

How does CBOX management work when using 10G and USP systems together?

Currently, the CBOX-HA only operates in one MXnet mode at a time. This means for systems leveraging 10G-MSE’s and USP endpoints to create a hybrid system, two CBOX-HA’s will be required. One CBOX-HA operating in 10G mode and the other operating in USP mode.

Will the 10G CBOX provide preview streams when using MSE?

Yes. The preview stream of the MSE can be viewed from either the 10G-CBOX or the USP-CBOX. A USP-CBOX is only needed if routing video streams to USP endpoints.

Is the 10G-MSE a transceiver like other 10G models?

No. “MSE” stands for Multi-Stream Encoder and is designed to operate as an encoder only.
